Bohemian Senior Photos

December 4, 2013

Hello everyone!

Hopefully you’ve already seen a couple of these photos on our Facebook page but in case you didn’t, take a look at those and more!  In November we styled a few girls for their senior photos, to be photographed by Mandy of Hello Sweetheart Portraiture. The whole photo shoot had a bohemian vibe, PERFECT for us!  The whole day was full of fun and laughs….Image

This outfit on Misa shows off a fall favorite color, deep red. Made it a bit more casual & warm by adding  a dark washed denim jacket . As far as jewelry, layered necklaces and a few bracelets did the trick! Love, love the embroidery on this dress and the shape of It is so fun to dance around in, especially for a photo shoot! Can’t forget the floppy hat that was the cherry on top for this look.

Krysten looks gorgeous in this layered look. We started off with this paisley print dress and added an oversized shrug sweater, knee high socks and belt to aallllmossst complete the look. The accessories really made it, including a statement necklace, printed silk headband, bangles and a cuff bracelet.

Here’s another one of those floppy hats, just can’t get enough of them! We picked this chocolate one to contrast with Hailey’s blonde locks. As for the outfit we triple layered… a black and white printed dress, tan pull over sweater and a burgundy denim jacket. Love! Of course we added layers of jewelry as well!

Are you getting senior photos done? Holiday family photos? Engagement? We highly recommend Hello Sweetheart Portraiture, Mandy is really a sweetheart and will make being in front of the camera a breeze!

Visit us and one of our stylists will give you plenty of outfit options unique for you, It will be hard to decide 🙂

Off the New York Fall 2013 Runway

September 18, 2013

Hello girls!

I know the weather isn’t quite here yet, at least here in Southern Cali but It is time for fall fashion! We’re already in mid September, pumpkins are filling up grocery store displays and Spring 2014 has just finished walking down the runway in New York! In the fashion world, as we are wearing one season… we are planning or buying for 1 or 2 seasons ahead.

Let’s do a recap of the Fall 2013 runway trends seen in New York months ago. Although most runway looks are too over the top for our day to day lives, we can still pull great inspirations and trends from the fashion.

[statement coats] Whether It’s furry, feather or just oversized…coats with a statement will make your look, keep the rest of the look monochromatic or neutral If you want to play it safe.

[midi length] Dresses or skirts that fall right at your knee look amazing with any height boot. This winter white look is also great inspiration for those daring enough!

[punk patterns] Punk is back and comes in many forms… leather, bold red, layers of black and most of all PLAID.

[baroque] Rich and Royal patterns are another popular fabric for fall whether on sweaters, dresses or pants.

[green with envy] Emerald is a huge color this fall and also for stunning holiday looks. Those army green shades are also a must have for a military-inspired look.

[shades of grey] Grey is the new black. Use this neutral color in different shades for a monochromatic look or to pair with rich colors like oxblood, navy, violet or emerald.

[peplum party] The flattering peplum shape is here to stay through fall. Wear a peplum top with pants for a fun night out or a peplum dress for those future holiday parties.

[top it off] Hats and more hats… of all styles. However, beanies do look great with so many styles especially the punk and grunge trends. They are also practical for the cold weather ahead! P.s. we have them at all three stores : Ragz Dressware, Blues and Shoes & The Beat Clothing

[pull it over] Pull over sweatshirts will be filling our racks especially in interesting fabrics and cutouts. You can grab some already at The Beat Clothing.

[never mis matched] Many designers are coming out with fabulous matching separates and we love it! Wear them separate or together with a small break in-between… by showing some waist or meeting them together with a bold belt.

They’ve been around since 2003 and are now a leader in the denim  market. I can’t count how many times I’ve heard “These are so soft!” coming from the dressing room here at The Beat Clothing.

At The Beat we carry a variety of styles including shorts, distressed boyfriend denim and colored skinnies. See for yourselves below!

Astrid is wearing the same Beatles tee and jewelry in every look, see how the denim and shoes completely take her look from day to night!

A romantic, springtime look

March 28, 2013

We are all overly excited with all the new springtime shipments coming in! Dresses, tops, shorts, shoes… we have brand new everything! Including these strappy coral wedges complete with just enough studs. We asked you yesterday on Facebook what you’d wear them with, so here’s one option to show you!

Many people see studs and think to pair with leather or denim… well we like to think beyond that here at Blues and Shoes! It’s fun to juxtapose different styles in order to complete a cute and unique look. For example mixing a little bit of edge with more feminine pieces.

Here’s the shoes! The gold studs add some edge but the cork bottom and small straps allow you to mix with other styles.

So here’s what we came up with… a flirty white dress that has a floral printed top AND a pink lace kimono. I KNOW I KNOW, too cute.

Don’t forget the accessories! This look is complete with a edgy waist belt, colorful bangles and layers of necklaces.

Now this romantic springtime look is complete 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! xoxo
